The InterMountain Education Service District’s Children’s Rodeo for children with special needs received a boost with $4,655 in combined donations from Pendleton Wal-Mart, Swire Coca-Cola and Let’er Buck Room volunteers.
The funds will supplement what the Children’s Rodeo receives annually from its primary sponsor, the Pendleton Round-Up Association.
On Dec. 16, Pendleton Wal-Mart Store Manager Shawna Nuff and Swire Coca-Cola Pendleton Sales Manager Terri Spriet awarded the Children’s Rodeo with a check for $1,548. Funds came from Coca-Cola’s Round-Up-themed displays in the Pendleton Wal-Mart store in September, a percentage of which was sold from those displays were donated to the Children’s Rodeo.
On Dec. 19, Pendleton Round-Up Let’er Buck Room Director Michael Ledbetter and his wife, Jill, presented a $3,107 check to the Children’s Rodeo planning committee. These funds came from tips received by Let’er Buck Room volunteers during the Sept. 10, Sept. 12 and Sept. 13, 2014, rodeos, as well as from sales of empty whisky bottles, which the Let’er Buck Room sells after Round-Up.
“We are so thankful of Wal-Mart, Coca Cola, and the Let’er Buck Room volunteers for their generosity and support of the Children’s Rodeo,” said Karen Parker, Children’s Rodeo director. “It means so much to us to have so much support for these kids.”
The Children’s Rodeo will celebrate its 31st anniversary with a move in 2015 – from Wednesday of Round-Up to Thursday. Since Thursday is traditionally Tough Enough To Wear Pink day at the Round-Up, the Children’s Rodeo will use some of its donated funds to purchase new pink t-shirts for participants and volunteers to show their support of the breast cancer campaign.
