It was a long night for Hermiston on Thursday as the undefeated Chiawana Riverhawks rolled past the Bulldogs, 53-14, at Kennison Field.

The game was essentially over before the first quarter ended as the Riverhawks jumped out to a 35-0 lead at the end of the first 12 minutes of play.

Hermiston’s offense sputtered for most of the night as Chiawana held the Bulldogs to just 55 rushing yards and held quarterback Isaac Corey to 183 yards in the air, completing 9 of 22 passing attempts.

Chiawna added a field goal and safety in the second quarter to take a 40-0 lead in the locker room.

Hermiston didn’t get on the board until the fourth quarter when Corey connected with Jaime Ramirez-Ortega for two scores including an 80-yard touchdown pass.

The loss drops Hermiston to 2-4 overall and 2-3 in conference play. The Bulldogs take on Kamiakin in a road game on Friday while Chiawana (6-0) will host Southridge.
