Chuck Poulson of Hermiston Dies at Age 78

Beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Charles “Chuck” Richard Poulson, 78, of Hermiston (formerly of Kellogg, Idaho), passed away Aug. 28, 2014, at the Sullivan Park Care Center of Spokane Valley, Wash. He was born February 24, 1936, in Hailey, Idaho. Chuck was the son of Francis Del and Dorothy (Seagraves) Poulson.

Chuck grew up in Hailey and attended and graduated from the Hailey High School in 1954. After graduation, he moved to Kellogg, Idaho, where he met his future wife, Carol Jaeger. On July 24, 1955, Chuck and Carol were united in marriage at the St. Rita’s Catholic Church of Kellogg. They settled in Kellogg, where Chuck worked at the Pik Kwik Grocery of Kellogg for several years. He then worked as a driver/salesman for various commercial bread companies. During this time they raised their four children in Kellogg.

After retiring from the bread business in 1993, Chuck and Carol moved to Hermiston, where they purchased a laundromat, which they owned and operated for 16 years.

Chuck was a member of the Hermiston Elks Lodge, the Hermiston Eagles Lodge, a member of the Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Echo Hills Golf Club.

Chuck loved and enjoyed spending time with his family, golfing and taking wonderful trips with his beloved wife, Carol.

Chuck is survived by the love of his life, Carol, of the family home of Hermiston; four children, Sheri Poulson of Spokane Valley, Wash., Ken (Debi) Poulson of Nampa, Idaho, Linda (Tom) Litalien of Post Falls, Idaho, and Rich (Donna) Poulson of Kellogg, Idaho; one sister, Wanda (Bob) Pace of Twin Falls, Idaho; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Kenneth, and one sister, Dorothy.

A Celebration of Chuck’s Life was held Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014 at the Hermiston Elks Lodge. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Rita’s Catholic Church of Kellogg Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, at 11 a.m. with Father Marcos Sanchez serving as celebrant. A reception/luncheon will be held in the church fellowship hall following services. Inurnment will be held at 2 p.m. at the Greenwood Cemetery of Kellogg.
