Cindy L. Duncan Powney of Yakima, Wash., former Hermiston resident, passed away on Oct. 27, 2023 in Yakima, Wash. at the age of 65.
She was born on March 4, 1958 in Hot Springs, S.D. to Billie and Shirley Duncan.
Cindy married Jeffrey Powney on July 31, 1999 in Elko, Nev. She worked for many years in the Hermiston area before moving to Yakima, where they have lived for the last 16 years. Cindy was retired and loved spending time with her family and new granddaughter. She loved roses and had many around their home. We love you and will miss you, Cindy!
She is survived by her husband, Jeff; son, Hunter and his partner Aubrey Gaul; granddaughter, Oakley Powney; sisters, Cathy and husband Steve Krietzer, and Sue and husband Grizz Sidebottom; brother, Roger and wife Paula Duncan; and several nieces and nephews.
Cindy was preceded in death by her parents.

Cindy and I were best friends in junior high. She was bright, intelligent, fun, loving and caring. I was lucky to have her as my good friend for a handful of years. We drifted apart, but I have thought of her frequently over the years. I’m sorry to hear of her passing. I’m sorry we never reconnected.
