The city of Hermiston and Chamber of Commerce today jointly issued a survey to gather broad feedback about the proposed “You Can GROW Here” community brand.
People who live or work in and around Hermiston are encouraged to take the short five-question survey to share their opinions beginning today through Monday, Sept. 7.
The survey can be found online. Community members can also fill out a paper copy of the survey at Hermiston’s Saturday Market at McKenzie Park Saturday, Aug. 29 from 8 to 10:30 a.m.; at Wal-Mart Saturday, Aug. 29 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The survey is confidential, with responses being gathered by a contractor, who will consolidate the data. The consolidated information will be used to assess perceptions of the brand as it currently exists, or to determine if any changes should be made before moving forward further with the community brand.
The current version of the community brand was developed as part of a city of Hermiston initiative by a diverse group of community members and business representatives on the Hermiston’s Future Task Force Branding and Community Promotion Committee.
This committee focused on this work because of feedback the city heard from businesses that chose to locate elsewhere, and due to challenges experienced by others in trying to attract new businesses, to hire additional employees, and to bring new community members and visitors to the community.
The aim of the committee’s work was to develop a community brand identity with the following broad goals: give Hermiston an identity; promote Hermiston’s livability; remain the largest city in Eastern Oregon; attract more businesses and families to the area; and make Hermiston a desirable destination/increase tourism.
