The Hermiston Street Department jumped the gun recently by putting up new stop signs in town before the Hermiston City Council approved them.

A resolution went before the council Monday night to approve a request for two new stops signs on S.W. Meadow View Drive where it intersects with S.W. Riverhill Drive. The signs were requested by a citizen concerned about safety on the residential streets.

“Unfortunately, our diligent Street Department has already put up the stop signs,” City Manager Byron Smith said sheepishly. “We’ll try to make sure next time that they don’t jump the gun.”

Thankfully, the resolution passed, 6-0.
