Hermiston Financial Reporting Award
Hermiston Finance Director Amy Palmer announced Monday night that the city had earned the Certificate for Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.

The city of Hermiston has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association for the City’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the 22nd year in a row.

The certificate, awarded to Hermiston City Manager Ed Brookshier, is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. The city’s CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.

Brookshier gave credit for the award to the city’s finance staff, including Finance Director Amy Palmer, and the city’s accounting firm. He said he believes there is only one other city in the state that has earned the certificate for more consecutive years than Hermiston.

Hermiston Mayor Dave Drotzmann said the award “speaks to the city’s willingness to be transparent and open in our financial reporting.”

Current and historical CAFRs are available for review on the city’s website.
