The city of Hermiston is inviting the public to meeting in February to learn more about the Hermiston Enterprise Zone (HEZ) and its plans to have it renewed.
The meeting will be from 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 20 at the Hermiston Conference Center.
The enterprise zone is an economic development tool co-sponsored by the city of Hermiston and Umatilla County which grants property tax abatements to qualifying companies that increase employment within the zone. The HEZ is set to expire, according to its terms, on June 30, 2015. Hermiston intends to apply to have renewed for another 10 years.
