Claudia Voss of Hermiston Passes Away at 94

Claudia E. Lucas Voss died on June 19, 2017 at her home in Hermiston at the age of 94.

She was born on Nov. 30, 1922 in Schulter, Okla. to John and Bertha Parker Ward.

She was raised in the southern and eastern United States. She worked supporting the war effort as Rosie the Riveter at North American Aircraft in Burbank, Calif. She moved to Fresno, Calif. in the early 1960s and later moved to Federal Way, Wash., working as a catering director in hospitality until 1987. She settled in Hermiston and married James Voss on April 11, 1990 in Winnemucca, Nev. She was active in several organizations over the years, including the Eagles, Elks Emblem Club and the Grange. She enjoyed quilting, reading, traveling all over the world, playing cards and dancing.

She is survived by her husband, James T. Voss, Hermiston; sons, Edwin C. Hilton and Edward C. Tinnerman of Auburn, Wash; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Richard W. Hilton.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, June 30, 2017 at 2 p.m. at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston.

A celebration gathering will follow at the Hermiston Elks Lodge, 480 E. Main. St.
