Umatilla County residents will have three opportunities in April to divest themselves of accumulated junk during this year’s Clean Sweep events in Hermiston.

During the week of April 1-7, Sanitary Disposal will give cash customers up to $14 off each acceptable load brought to the transfer station (two miles north of Hermiston on Highway 395). Those with less than 2.5 cubic yards or a maximum of 454.5 pounds of junk can dispose of them for free. Tires will be billed at the regular rate. Hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday, April 13, the city will sponsor a free recycling event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Umatilla Electric Cooperative parking lot.

Finally, on April 27, I Love My City will sponsor a community clean-up event at McKenzie Park. The event goes from 9 a.m. to noon.
