The Hermiston defense stops Coeur d'Alene from scoring early in the first quarter of Friday night's matchup. The Vikings went on to a 43-10 victory.

The second and fourth quarters told the story of Friday night’s matchup between the Hermiston Bulldogs and the visiting Coeur d’Alene Vikings as the Idaho team outscored the Bulldogs 35-0 in those two quarters to come away with a 43-10 win at Kennison Field.

The Vikings (5-1) scored early on a 15-yard touchdown pass from Austin Lee to Brody Lundblad, but the two-point conversion failed. Coeur d’Alene added two more points, however, when they recovered a snap on a Hermiston punt attempt in the end zone for a safety.

Hermiston cut it to 8-3 at the end of the first quarter on a 41-yard field goal from Freddy Rodriquez.

Coeur d’Alene quarterback Cole Yankoff pushed the lead to 22-3 on a pair of scoring runs – one from 6 yards out and another from 23 yards out to wrap up the first-half scoring.

After a scoreless third quarter, the Vikings upped the lead to 30-3 on a 7-yard scoring pass from Yankoff to Cayden Vonacci.

The Bulldogs scored their only touchdown of the game when Tucker Salinas caught a 60-yard TD pass from Nate Hunsaker, who took over for Dayshawn Neal at quarterback in the second half.

Coeur d’Alene’s Lee scored in the fourth quarter on a 2-yard run and Timothy Naroski completed the night’s scoring for the Vikings when he returned a fumble recovery 60 yards for a touchdown.

Hermiston gained just 5 first downs on the night compared to 25 for Coeur d’Alene.

The loss drops Hermiston to 0-5 on the year. The Bulldogs will host 0-5 Sandy on Friday at 7 p.m. at Kennison Field.
