The nationally-ranked Blue Mountain Community College rodeo team will host the Northwest Intercollegiate Rodeo Finals today and Saturday (May 1-2) at the Farm City Pro Rodeo Arena at the Umatilla County Fairgrounds in Hermiston.

Both the men’s and women’s BMCC rodeo teams are currently sitting at the top of the Northwest Regional rankings, and the men’s team is currently ranked 3rd in the country, while the women sit in the No. 4 spot nationally. The top six rankings in the men’s All-Around and the top spot in the women’s All-Around in the Northwest Region belong to BMCC team members. BMCC also boasts top rankings in the Northwest Region in tie-down roping, steer wrestling, team roping (header and heeler), and barrel racing.

BMCC boasts three men in the national All-Around rankings in Jared Parke (No. 10), Clayton Hansen (No. 15), and Chase Hansen (No. 22). On the women’s side, BMCC has two nationally-ranked members in the All-Around in Danyelle Jo Williams (No. 8) and Callahan Crossley (No. 23).

BMCC has dominated the 2015 rodeo season, with the men’s team winning all four rodeos this year (at Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario, Walla Walla Community College in Walla Walla, Wash., Eastern Washington University in Spokane Valley, Wash., and Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Wash.), and the women’s team winning all but one (they came in second in Ontario).

The Northwest Intercollegiate Rodeo Finals take place today and Saturday, with slack at 10 a.m. both days and rodeo performances at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the gate, and are just $10. Kids 12 years and younger are free. Tickets to slack are $5. All proceeds benefit the BMCC rodeo team.
