The public will get a chance to see proposed projects aimed at revitalizing Hermiston's downtown during an open house on June 13.

The public is invited to join the Hermiston Urban Renewal District Planning Advisory Committee (URD-PAC) at an open house showcasing the group’s proposals for revitalizing Hermiston’s downtown.

The event will run from 5 to 6:30 p.m., Thursday, June 13 in the breezeway of the 200 block of Main Street between Bendixsens’ law office and Andee’s Boutique.

Members of the URD-PAC will be on hand to explain the proposals and listen to public feedback. Input from the June 13 open house will be combined with input from presentations to community groups including Rotary, Kiwanis, Altrusa, the Realtors Association, and the Hermiston Chamber of Commerce when the URD-PAC makes its final recommendations for an Urban Renewal Plan.

The URD-PAC, made up of business owners and interested stake-holders,was appointed by the Hermiston City Council to establish priority projects and programs to be funded by an Urban Renewal District to revitalize the downtown area. Some examples of the proposals include creating an outside event space, providing grant money for exterior renovations, and making improvements to parking lots.
