Condon's Dixie Olson Passes Away at 63

Dixie M. Olson, longtime Umatilla resident, died on Jan. 30, 2016 at home in Condon at the age of 63.

She was born on May 7, 1952 in Heppner to William and Annabelle Lofton Jaeger. Dixie was raised and attended school in Condon, Oregon. She graduated from Condon High School in the class of 1970 and then attended Blue Mountain Community College for a time. Dixie was united in marriage to Eldon L. Olson on March 20, 1975 in Winnemucca, Nevada and they moved to Umatilla, Oregon. She worked for Lamb Weston as a quality assurance technician when she retired in 2015 after 40 years with the company. Dixie moved to Condon, Oregon in 2015 where she has lived since. She enjoyed horses, packing into the Eagle Caps, fishing, hunting, Nascar, football, sewing, and crocheting. Dixie cherished time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughters: Nina Parks, Sacramento, CA, Ginger Patton, Enterprise, OR, Katrina Steinman, Hermiston, OR, & Angela Jaeger, Condon, OR; son: Eric Olson, Grass Valley, CA; parents: Bill and Annabelle Jaeger, Condon, OR; sisters: Judy Thomsen, Condon, OR & Catherine Zollner, Woodburn, OR; brother: Robert Jaeger, Condon, OR; 10 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Dixie was preceded in death by her husband, Eldon Olson in 2011.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, Feb. 12, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston.
