U.S. Rep. Greg Walden (R-Hood River), Chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee, took to the La Grande Observer to outline his plan to attack the nationwide opioid epidemic from all angles.
“The only way we can put an end to this scourge is through an all-hands-on-deck approach to address the root causes of the opioid crisis in our communities,” wrote Walden.
Walden’s Energy and Commerce Committee will hold three legislative hearings to examine the opioid crisis and put forth concrete solutions to help end this scourge.
The first of these hearings, scheduled for today, is titled “Combating the Opioid Crisis: Helping Communities Balance Enforcement and Patient Safety.”
“Much more can – and must – be done in order to stop the havoc being wreaked in our communities,” concluded Walden. “The time is now to press on in our fight, to put forth a comprehensive solution that attacks this nationwide epidemic from all angles. That is at the top of my to-do list in Congress.”
