The Pendleton Contra Dance Community will hold their next dance Saturday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. at the Pendleton Center for the Arts.

No experience is necessary, and participation is $8 per person or $12 per couple.

Contra dancing has its origins in a range of folk traditions, including English country dance and Appalachian dancing. It’s a form of social dancing that one can attend without a partner. Dancers are paired up in long lines and follow the instructions of a caller. Callers teach the sequence of the dance steps before the music starts. This event features live music by the La Grande Band House Blend.

The Pendleton Contra Dance Community will hold dances at PCA on the second Saturdays through June 2019, except for December and January, when travel can be difficult.
