C&E Trenching has received a $3.7 million contract to upgrade the Regional Water System to accommodate water demand from Amazon Web Services (AWS).

The contract was awarded Monday night by the Hermiston City Council. Hermiston Assistant City Manager Mark Morgan said the contract was the final piece of the city’s nearly $20 million water and sewer infrastructure work along the Feedville Road corridor.

In August, the city awarded a $2.3 million contract for the purchase of pumps and motors. C&E Trenching, based in the Tri-Cities, will do the installation at multiple locations throughout the Regional Water System to accommodate water demand from AWS.

Morgan said that AWS will pay 100 percent of the cost of the project through reimbursements to the city.
