U.S. Rep. Greg Walden (R-Hood River) announced today that 13 counties in Oregon’s Second Congressional District will receive job creation assistance in an effort to diversify and strengthen the local economy.
The 13 counties include: Crook, Deschutes, Jefferson, Hood River, Wasco, Sherman, Gilliam, Grant, Harney, Malheur, Morrow, Umatilla, and Wheeler. The region served by the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation is also receiving assistance.
“With this assistance, counties will be able to better coordinate to attract private investment to our region. This is good news for efforts to grow jobs and strengthen the economy in central and eastern Oregon and the Columbia Gorge,” Walden said.
The federal Economic Development Agency (EDA) awarded the assistance to the Central Oregon Intergovernmental Council, the Greater Eastern Oregon Development Cooperation, the Mid-Columbia Economic Development District, and the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation.
