By March 1, smoking will be banned on all county-owned property and by July 1 all county-owned land will be tobacco-free zones.
The Umatilla County Commissioners have passed the anti-smoking ordinance on Thursday.
The ordinance not only bans regular cigarettes, but e-cigarettes, as well. And don’t think you can get creative – the ban extends to cigars, pipes, vaporizers and – yes – even hookahs.
Smokers were already prohibited from lighting up within 25 feet of a county building’s doors or windows. The new policy will be phased in over the next six months.
Benton, Clatsop, Deschutes, Hood River and Multnomah counties have already adopted tobacco-free policies.
