A huge crowd turned out Saturday night for the Umatilla County Fair parade, officially kicking off fair week in Hermiston.
Parade watchers began setting their chairs out as early as Friday morning in order to get a good viewing spot. A total of 145 entries lined the streets of Hermiston Saturday evening. Thirteen entries won first place.
The 13 winners were:
Youth Band: 1st Place – Hermiston High School Marching Band
Adult Dance Group: 1st Place – Fillipino American Community
Youth Dance Group: 1st Place – Irrigon Cheer
Adult Equestrian Group: 1st Place – Snow Queen Elsa
Youth Equestrian Group: 1st Place – Oregon Trail Rider 4-H Club
Business Float: 1st Place – Banner Bank
Non-Profit Float: 1st Place – On Our Way to Heaven, Enjoy the Ride!
Motorized Group: 1st Place – Wyked A&I
Single Motorized: 1st Place – Old Echo Fire
Business Non-Float: 1st Place – Legendary Longhorns
Non-Profit Non-Float: 1st Place – Umatilla Morrow Head Start, Inc.
Royalty: 1st Place – Miss Sapphire Royalty for Autism Awareness
Overall Sweepstakes Award & Banner Bank Fair Theme Award: Hermiston Realty
The Umatilla County Fair gets under way on Tuesday and the Farm-City Pro Rodeo gets started on Wednesday.
