The Umatilla County Sheriff’s Office (UCSO) will once again be teaming up with agencies around the State for the Christmas and New Year’s season.

Beginning today and continuing through Jan. 1, 2018, the sheriff’s office will be participating in Oregon’s DUII/High Visibility Enforcement (HVE) grant program looking for impaired drivers. The sheriff’s office will have extra deputies patrolling the roadways looking specifically for intoxicated and distracted drivers.

On average, there are 33 lives lost in traffic collisions every December in Oregon.

If you see what you believe to be unsafe operation of a motor vehicle, call 911 with the vehicle’s description, direction of travel, and the license plate number if possible.
