The Umatilla County Board of Commissioners has appointed Kim B. Puzey to the Eastern Oregon Trade and Event Center Authority Board. Puzey, general manager of the Port of Umatilla, has served in a number of volunteer capacities and is currently the chairman of the Blue Mountain Community College Board of Directors.
Puzey’s appointment fills a vacancy created by the resignation of Buzz Brazeau. That term expires on Dec. 31, 2014.
The Board of Commissioners interviewed four applicants during the month of December: Tammy Dennee, Don Miller, David Wright and Puzey. Umatilla County Commissioner Larry Givens said the interview process was “long and careful,” and the selection process was a “close call.”
The appointment was made at the first Umatilla County Board of Commissioners meeting of the New Year.
“This is my first appointment as a commissioner,” said newly-elected Commissioner Bill Elfering. “I wanted to make certain that I gave it the attention it deserved. Any one of the applicants would do us proud, but we could only choose one. I’m certain that Mr. Puzey’s experience and intellect will benefit EOTEC moving forward.”
