Darlene D. Smith of Hermiston passed away in Hermiston on Nov. 30, 2024 at the age of 91.
She was born on Sept. 19, 1933 in Huron, S.D. to Fred and Ruby Dinneen Remus.
Darlene moved with her family to Dixie, Wash. where she attended school and graduated from high school. When she was 16, she met Alex R. Smith while at a Halloween party. The couple were united in marriage when she turned 18.
The couple lived in Canada and later California before moving to Hermiston in the late 1970s. She had resided in the Hermiston area for the past 45 years.
Darlene was committed to taking care of her family. She enjoyed attending the Cowboy Church in Hermiston when she was able to.
She is survived by a son, Alex Smith Jr.; daughters, Debra Morrow and Jody Bonney; nine grandchildren; over 20 great-grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.
A private family service will be held at a later time.
