David Lamp died on Jan. 17, 2015 after an amazing, heavily fought battle with esophageal cancer at the age of 55.

He was born on June 12, 1959 in Portland to Frank and Loretta (Pasto) Lamp. He grew up in N.E. Portland and graduated from Benson Polytech High School in 1977. David Lamp was an extraordinary fellow known for his broad intellectual skills and community spirit. David’s community spirit was exemplified in his tireless efforts in serving through the Ford Foundation (training local residents in leadership roles) and the local Rotary Club. He was also active in the Toastmaster’s Club. You would treasure him as a friend. David had special skills with computers and electronics, especially small motors. He eventually became part owner of Wilde Electric Motor Company in Hermiston.

He is survived by his father, Frank Lamp of Portland; sister, Lynne Farzati of Clearfield, Utah; and brother, Owen Lamp of the Dalles. He was married to Susan; they had three children: Jordan Lamp, Emily Nordstrom and Victoria Lamp. David has two grandsons, Jimmy Jack and Levi.

Special thanks to his many supporters and caregivers in Hermiston and The Dalles.

No flowers please. Remembrances can be sent to the American Cancer Society or The Ford Foundation.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Stanfield Baptist Church, 310 E. Wheeler.
