David Van Schoiack Jr.

David J. Van Schoiack Jr. of Hermiston passed away near Boardman on Feb. 16, 2019 at the age of 49.

He was born on Jan. 12, 1970 in Pendleton to David Sr. and Joyce Huxoll Van Schoiack.

David attended grade school in Stanfield and high school at Sherman County High School near Moro, graduating in the class of 1988. After high school he moved to Hermiston, where he had resided since. Soon after moving to Hermiston he met Catherine “Cathy” Eddy. David and Cathy were united in marriage on June 12, 1992 in Lewiston, Idaho.

David worked for the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife for several years. Next, he worked for Lamb Weston in Boardman for 23 years. He currently was a security officer for Rover Security.

David loved spending time with his family, especially his four children. He enjoyed family trips to the ocean, being in the outdoors, playing video games and reading. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends!

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Cathy; children, David John III, Dennis, Alexander and Lilyanna; mother, Joyce Lear; stepmother, Rogenia Van Schoiack; sister, Tammy Van Schoiack-Howell; brother, Dennis Mutton; step siblings, Michelle Hyde and Michael Hyde; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Hermiston Assembly of God Church, 730 E. Hurlburt Ave. A potluck will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.
