The deadline to apply for the open seat on the Hermiston City Council is 5 p.m. on Friday.
The seat, which represents Ward II, became vacant when George Anderson resigned last month. His term ends at the end of the year. Anderson did not run for another term on the council and Clara B. Fitzgerald was elected in May to his seat. As of Wednesday afternoon, no on has applied for the seat, although Fitzgerald has indicated her intent to do so.
