Organizers and volunteers invite everyone to Watch Us Grow! during the 2023 Umatilla County Fair. While the event is four weeks away, participants must submit open class exhibit forms or register for parade entry by 5 p.m. Saturday, July 15.
All Umatilla County residents are invited to share their creative talents in the open class division. Entry categories include everything from baked goods and sewing projects to flowers and the arts. Also, people are encouraged to tap into their creativity with special category entries that reflect the fair theme — Watch Us Grow!
Exhibitors have plenty of time to put the finishing touches on their projects — items are accepted for submission between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6. Preregistered entries are eligible for display, judging and fair premium payouts.
The Umatilla County Fair Kick-Off Parade is set to roll at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, in Hermiston. While there is no entry fee, participants must register in advance.
n addition to bragging rights, the top entry will take home the sweepstakes award. Also, a special award will recognize the entry that best represents the 2023 theme. And division winners will receive ribbons.
In other fair news, Davis Shows Northwest returns to this year’s fair with all your favorite carnival rides. For a $7 discount, purchase one-day unlimited rides wristbands online, at the fair office or Velasco Used Car Sales, Hermiston. The presale ends at noon on Tuesday, Aug. 8.
The 2023 Umatilla County Fair is Aug. 9-12 at the Eastern Oregon Trade and Event Center, 1705 E. Airport Road, Hermiston. Daily admission is $12 and free for ages 10 and under. Season passes and parking permits are also available for purchase.
