The deadline is looming to apply for health-related grants from the Good Shepherd Community Health Foundation.
Jan. 31 is the deadline to apply for grants for health-related projects, equipment and materials. The foundation also awards scholarships for graduating high school students as well as those who have completed at least one year of college. The deadline to apply for those scholarships is March 31. The scholarships are earmarked for students seeking health-related degrees and certifications.

The foundation recently awarded $21,504 in grant money to area projects and organizations. Hermiston Little League received $8,854 for facility safety and lighting equipment. The Rocky Heights Elementary School PTO received a grant for $7,150 to purchase playground equipment. Irrigon Little League received $3,000 to construct a new field and renovate an existing field. Guardian Care Center was given a $2,000 grant to upgrade a medical examination room. A grant for $500 was given to the Desert Arts Council to provide health-related educational art activities during Hermiston’s annual Art Walk to promote healthy lifestyle choice.
