Terry Dean Moore passed away on May 17, 2023 at the age of 64.

He was born on Sept. 26, 1958.

Dean grew up in Hermiston, attending schools in the community and eventually graduating from Hermiston High School in 1976. After high school he attended Blue Mountain Community College. He served in the Oregon Army National Guard from 1986 until 1992.

Dean moved to Portland in the early ‘90s, where he had lived and made a home ever since. He was one of the hardest workers you’d ever meet, dedicated, dependable and someone you could count on to pick up the slack when others were out. His strong work ethic was undeniable and something he will be remembered for by his colleagues.

Dean had an unmatched sense of humor; he could recite to you each episode of Seinfeld or The Office. He loved playing fantasy sports and even won several times throughout the years. He enjoyed attending food and music festivals and loved to experience the different cultures that each one would display. In his youth, he enjoyed playing city sports like Little League, football and others. He had a way of just making you feel so special, whether it be the tone of his voice, the hilarious nickname he came up with for you, or sitting with you when no words needed to be said at all. His family will always carry the fondest of memories of family trips to the Oregon coast; those memories will last a lifetime. Whether it be Dad, “Gampa,” brother, uncle or friend, he will be missed immensely and honored forever.

He is survived by his daughter and best friend, Shanda Moore of Portland; his favorite buddy and grandson, Johnny; his brother, Hal Rae Moore of Portland; and sisters, Deana Dedera of Hermiston and Tandi (Roy) Bicknell, also of Hermiston. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hal and Willa Moore.

Dean’s favorite number was 22 and he often looked for signs of that number in his day-to-day life. With that being said, a funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at 11 a.m. at Burns Mortuary Chapel, Hermiston.
