Dee Hymas

Nolen “Dee” Hymas died on Oct. 20, 2023 in Portland due to complications from pneumonia and leukemia.

He was born Jan. 5, 1937 in Rupert, Idaho to Cecil and Loneta Thompson Hymas.

Dee was a letter carrier in Hermiston for over 30 years, He loved practical jokes, scaring the crap out of the girls at girls camp, and he never turned down the opportunity of a water fight. He raised five amazing daughters and his motto was: “Anything boys can do can do, girls can do better!”

He was preceded in death by his parents, his six siblings, his beloved wife LaRue, two granddaughters Arisha and Brianne, many many pets, and the horse that walked across the newly laid grass (lol).

He is survived by his treasured dog Jake, his 5 daughters: Rodna Hymas, Roni LaFrance (Jeff), Terri Becker (Robert), Tracy Salinas (Noel), and Jeri Stracener (Jim); 8 grandchildren: Kirisha (Kevin), Kennedy, Kaelee (Andrew), Tucker, Ryelee, Delaney (Berenice), Tysen, and Kaylee; 2 great-grandchildren: Clarissa and Oliver . . . and all the fish that got away.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 25 at 1 p.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 850 SW 11th St., Hermiston.

Burial will follow at the Hermiston Cemetery, Hermiston.
