Desert Rose Ministries recently received a $2,500 grant from the Umatilla Electric Cooperative.

Mike Mehren, a volunteer at the Hermiston-based ministry, said the money will go toward the purchase of a vehicle. One of Desert Rose’s missions, he said, is to provide support for people who need treatment for alcohol or drug abuse. In addition to finding the right resource, Mehren said the group assists in providing transportation.

“A dependable vehicle will make a big difference in our ability to help those in need,” he said.
