Dick Ferranti Passes Away at 79

Richard J. “Dick” Ferranti of Hermiston died on June 13, 2023 in Hermiston at
the age of 79.

He was born on June 30, 1943 in Binghamton, N.Y. to Joseph and Frances
Vicosky Ferranti.

Dick was raised and attended schools in Massachusetts, where he enjoyed
playing basketball and baseball. He graduated from the University of
Massachusetts and then served in the United States Air Force as a captain until
his honorable discharge in 1971. Dick then began his insurance career which
took him all over the country, from Massachusetts to Minnesota to Connecticut
to Florida. He eventually settled in Hermiston in 1978, where he had lived since.
Dick continued to work in the insurance industry as an agent and later as an
owner until he retired in 2020.

He was a member and past president of Hermiston Rotary Club, member of the
Hermiston Elks Lodge, served two terms as president of the Greater Hermiston
Chamber of Commerce, as well as serving for nine years on the Board of
Trustees of Good Shepherd Health Care System with three years as chairman.

Dick served for several years on the Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of
Oregon’s board (also known as Big I Oregon) and was president from August
2000 to August 2001.

Dick enjoyed playing golf and was a lifelong avid Yankees fan.

He is survived by his wife, Connie Ferranti, Hermiston; children, Stacey
Cameron (Steve), Hermiston, Amy Ferranti (Matt Soble), Chicago, Ill., Michael
Brink (Rebekah), Phoenix, Ariz., Dominic Brink (Erin), Detroit, Mich., Shelly
Kinnick, Hermiston, Sherri Garcia, Hermiston and Jordan Fisher (Mandi),

Beaverton; sister, Yolanda Moore, Rutland, Mass.; eight grandchildren; two
great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 10 a.m. at the
Hermiston Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dick’s name may be made to Vange John
Memorial Hospice Education Fund, Hermiston Rotary Foundation, or Good
Shepherd Community Health Foundation.
