Richard E. “Dick” Roe died on Nov. 19, 2020 in Hermiston at the age of 90.
He was born on Oct. 24, 1930 in Vancouver, Wash.
Dick served in the U.S. Air Force in the Korean War until his honorable discharge.
My dad died this week. The man who chose me to be his son the day I was born when no one else wanted me. Who never missed a chance to tell me he was proud of me, usually in a variety of languages. My dad enjoyed the simple things, good food, good books, learning new things. He was an avid movie buff. I was reminded by him regularly that there is never enough time, to cherish every day, to set aside a couple dollars for a rainy day. My dad enjoyed a successful career in the banking industry for three decades before moving to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Department to enjoy a second career as a civil deputy. No one can replace him and will always be missed and loved.
He is survived by his son, Robert.
Dick was preceded in death by his wife, BerDean Mitchell Roe in 2006 and his son, Ronald in 1995.
