District Mourns Death of HHS Student

The Hermiston School District will be providing support for Hermiston High School staff and students today in the wake of the death of an HHS sophomore during the holiday break.

Brett Jewett, 16, died in a car accident on Jan. 1 on the Buttercreek Highway outside of Echo.

The district released a short statement:

“The school district will provide support for staff and students starting on Monday, Jan. 6, at Hermiston High School. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the family, students, friends and others affected by this loss.”

A celebration of life service will be held on Thursday, Jan. 9 at 7 p.m. at the New Hope Community Church, 1350 S. Highway 395.
