Savanna Diaz, special education teacher at West Park Elementary School
The district announced the educator of the year for each school throughout the months of January and February.
Hermiston School Superintendent Tricia Mooney said the Educators of the Year were all deserving recipients.
“I am honored to work in the Hermiston School District with the individuals recognized as Educators of the Year this year,” said Mooney. “They are an example of the hard-working, dedicated staff that show up every day to support our students. The Hermiston School District is better because of each of their contributions.”
Megan James said the award has a special meaning for her.
“Receiving Educator of the Year award means the world to me,” said James, who is the fifth year of her teaching career. “This award has felt even more special being that I was a Rocky Heights student myself. Thank you to those amazing educators that have taught me, that I have got to work with, and those who have encouraged me along the way.”
Kylee Allstott gave credit to her fellow teachers at Armand Larive.
“I have had the privilege of working with several amazing staff members that are all worthy of being awarded the educator of the year,” she said. “All of the educators and people in my life have shaped me into the person I am today, and I could not be more thankful.”
Linderman said she was honored to be one of this year’s winners.
“I am truly touched by our HSD staff, our students, their families, and the community,” Linderman said. “My eight years in the Hermiston School District have been a blessing and an incredible growing experience. Looking forward to reaching and supporting more students, families, and colleagues.”
Tonight’s school board meeting is at 5:30 p.m. at the district office, 305 S.W. 11th St.
