Umatilla County Commissioner Dennis Doherty will be the guest speaker. Doherty is the chairman of the Umatilla Basin Commission and a member of the Columbia River-Umatilla Solutions Taskforce.

In 2010, League of Women Voters of Oregon completed a two-year study titled Water in Oregon: Not a Drop to Waste. Part 1 is a review of the current Oregon laws and regulations for water resources and water quality. Part 2 covers the current issues facing water quality and quantity from the perspectives of stakeholder groups throughout the state.

Doherty will provide updates on progress made in dealing with water shortages in the Umatilla Basin during the last two years since the studies were completed.

The League of Women Voters study can be found online.

The Eastern Oregon Higher Education Center is located at 980 SE Columbia Dr., in Hermiston.
