Donald Orville Leighton passed away in Hermiston on March 31, 2022 at the age of 86.
He was born on Oct. 8, 1935 in Bend to Harold and Zora McDonald Leighton.
Donald grew up and attended schools in Terrebonne, Redmond, Tumalo and Irrigon. He graduated from Irrigon High School in 1953. He worked as a manager for Pendleton Grain Growers retail store in Hermiston from 1957 until 1987. He then moved to Seaside, where he worked for Lyles Garden and Pet from 1990 until 2000. All his life he was involved in breeding, training and showing all types of animals and birds.
Donald married Carla Virginia Hill on Feb. 4, 1956 in Irrigon.
He is survived by his daughter, Danette Veva Anderson; son, Deeno Ray Leighton; five grandsons; two great grandsons; one great granddaughter; six nieces; and 10 nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Carla in 2017; and sons, Donald Lee Leighton and Daniel Harold Leighton.
No services will be planned. He will be buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Gresham.
