Dorothy Ann Benjamin of Walla Walla, Wash., former Hermiston resident, passed away on April 24, 2022 in Walla Walla, Wash. at the age of 76.
She was born on Dec. 18, 1945 in Pendleton to Robert Barrow and Martha Brownell Barrow.
Dorothy graduated from Gem State Academy in Caldwell, Idaho, and shortly thereafter united in marriage with Larry D. Benjamin on July 7, 1963. They moved to Hermiston in 1967. Dorothy worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Kenneth Sjoren for several years.
She was a lifelong member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. In 1991, Dorothy moved with her husband, Larry to Alabama to become full-time missionaries at United Prison Ministries. They then moved to Jemison, Ala. to work for Inspiration Books East, a Christian publishing company. They traveled to 25 countries, distributing more than 35 million Christian publications. They also traveled throughout much of the United States, distributing Christian publications and speaking to various audiences.
Dorothy enjoyed sewing, painting, gardening – especially flowers – and being with her family.
She is survived by her sons, Ronald R. Benjamin, Milton-Freewater and Douglas W. Benjamin, Seattle, Wash.; brothers, Bill Barrow of Broken Bow, Neb., George Barrow of La Grande and Ted Barrow of Atlanta, Ga.; her sister, Marry Roach of Medford; three granddaughters; two great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Benjamin and her parents.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 8, 2022 at 1 p.m. at the Seventh-day Adventist Church, 855 W. Highland Ave., Hermiston.
Burial will follow at the Hermiston Cemetery.
