Dorothy Rose Snyder passed away in Hermiston on March 27, 2018 at the age of 83.
She was born on Feb. 27, 1935 in South Dakota to Charles and Millie Schamel.
As a child, Dorothy moved to Central Oregon where she resided for several years. She moved to Hermiston in the early 1950s and graduated from Hermiston High School in the class of 1953. She met Harold Roy Snyder in the summer of 1953, and the couple were united in marriage in December of that year.
In addition to her work as a homemaker, Dorothy worked as a Hyster driver for Simplot in Hermiston for 20 years, retiring in the late 1990s.
She enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting and working in her yard. Because of her early experiences of operating farm equipment, she had a mechanical sense that enabled her to repair and operate vehicles and many pieces of equipment. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and attending their sporting events.
She is survived by sons, Harold Edward (Wendy) Snyder, Thomas L. (Ren) Snyder and Richard W. (Mary) Snyder; daughters, Laura D. Snyder and Anna M. (Robert) Meyer; 16 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold; parents; and brothers, Alfred and Donald.
A funeral service will be at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2018 in Burns Mortuary Chapel in Hermiston.
Burial will follow in Hermiston Cemetery.
