The Morrow County District Attorney’s Office has charged a man with criminally negligent homicide and more related to a November 2023 crash near Boardman that killed a Hermiston man.
Miron Kosovan, 24, faces charges of criminally negligent homicide and second-degree manslaughter for the death of Alexander James Pace, according to state court records.
A grand jury on June 4 indicted Kosovan on counts of homicide and manslaughter, as well as one count of reckless driving, three counts of misdemeanor fourth-degree assault for injuring other people in the crash and one count of third-degree assault, a felony, for causing serious physical injury to one of the victims by means of an automobile, a dangerous weapon.
The district attorney’s office on Thursday, June 27, arraigned Kosovan on the seven counts.
Kosovan the morning of Nov. 28, 2023, was driving a Dodge Ram 1500 westbound in the fast lane on Interstate 84 near milepost 168 and failed to slow for traffic and struck the rear end of a Kia Sorrento as it prepared to merge into the slow lane, according to Oregon State Police.
Pace, 36, of Hermiston, was a passenger in the Kia and died at the scene.
Two other adults in the Kia suffered minor injuries, according to OSP, and a third suffered critical injuries.
Kosovan on June 27 signed a release agreement and cannot leave Oregon without a waiver of extradition unless for criminal/civil matters through and with his attorney.
Court records also show he has a plea hearing Aug. 22.
I’m happy he is held accountable.
