A Patterson, Wash., man was seriously injured in a collision Saturday night on Highway 207 near Hermiston.
According to Oregon State Police Sgt. Seth Cooney, around 8:30 p.m., a Ford pickup driven by Wesley Young was travelling southbound on Highway 207 when the pickup collided with a Honda four-door driven by Manuel Ramirez of Patterson, Wash., at the North Ott Road intersection. Ramirez, who was travelling on North Ott Road, failed to remain stopped at the stop sign and pulled out in front of the pickup which collided into the Honda’s driver door.
Ramirez suffered serious injuries and was transported by Hermiston Ambulance to Good Shepherd Medical Center. He was later transferred by air ambulance to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland. Young, of Hermiston, was uninjured. Hermiston Fire & Emergency Services and the Oregon Department of Transportation assisted at the scene.
The ages of both drivers were not immediately available.
Both drivers were wearing safety belts and speed was not a contributing factor in the accident, according to the OSP.
OSP troopers from the Hermiston office are continuing the investigation.
