E. Oregon Forum to Focus on Climate Change

Blue Mountain Community College will be the site of the next Eastern Oregon Forum set for 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 10.

The topic will be “Climate Change: Impacts to the Mid-Columbia Basin.” There will be an objective discussion of climate trends that are being experienced locally. It will explore the impacts and opportunities related to Blue Mountain uplands, forests and local agriculture.

Jeff Blackwood of the Umatilla County Climate Change Focus Group will introduce the speakers and facilitate the panel discussion and Q&A. Blackwood is a retired forest supervisor on the Umatilla National Forest.

The Eastern Oregon Forum is a collaborative effort between Blue Mountain Community College, InterMountain Education Service District, the East Oregonian, American Association of University Women, and Harriet Isom, former United States ambassador.

The forum will be held in room ST-200 of the Science and Technology Building at BMCC’s Pendleton campus at 2411 N.W. Carden Ave. Tickets are $6 at the door. Students are free.
