The Eastern Oregon Career Summit is coming to Pendleton and will bring together regional employers and the area’s potential workforce.

The fair, which takes place Oct. 23 at the Pendleton Convention Center from noon to 6:30 p.m.

The Eastern Oregon Career Summit, a morning with several guest speakers, will coincide with career day at Pendleton High School, which is being held in the morning of Oct. 23. Students from Pilot Rock and Weston-McEwan high school will also attend Pendleton’s career day. All other regional high schools have been invited to the Eastern Oregon Career Summit, making it a great opportunity to have access to the next generation of the workforce.

To complement the usual employer booths common at a job fair, there will also be a number of breakout sessions taught by workforce development professionals — some aimed at job seekers, and some aimed at employers.

Sessions designed for employers include multiple generations in the workplace, becoming an employer of choice, and second chance. Sessions created for job seekers will cover interviewing, social media, and a session by a nationally certified work ethic trainer using the “Bring your ‘A’ Game” work ethic curriculum.

More details can be found on the Pendleton Chamber and Hermiston Chamber websites, as well as Umatilla County. This event is free and open to the public. Employers can reserve a table for free by calling WorkSource Oregon at 541-276- 9050.
