Edna Lowrance Passes Away at 88

Edna J. Lowrance died on Oct. 14, 2019 at her home in Hermiston at the age of 88.

She was born on March 14, 1931 in Campo, Colo. to Orval “S.O.” and Nettie May Knowles Hiatt.

Edna was raised and attended schools in Nyssa. She attended Payette Beauty College and then Missionary Baptist Seminary, where she earned her bachelor’s degree and her master’s in Bible languages. Edna was united in marriage to William “W.S.” Lowrance on July 31, 1952 in Nyssa.

She was a homemaker and an accomplished seamstress. Edna was an active member of the Landmark Missionary Baptist Church in Hermiston and loved sharing the word of the Lord with others. She enjoyed sewing, reading her Bible and books, playing games with her family, playing cutthroat pinochle, crafts, traveling, crossword puzzles, cooking, canning and making preserves.

She is survived by her daughters, Carol Brendle and Barbara Johnson and her husband, Ken; sons, William Lowrance and his wife Loretta, Stacey Lowrance and his wife Becky; brothers, Jim, Les, Galen, Clayton and Danny Hiatt; 18 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Edna was preceded in death by her husband, W.S. Lowrance; her parents; and brothers, Willis, Dewayne and Everet Hiatt.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church, 125 E. Beech St., Hermiston.
