Elaine Wallace of Hermiston passed peacefully in her sleep on Dec. 31, 2021 at the age of 86.
She was born on Oct. 5, 1935 in Wenatchee, Wash. to Cleal and Ethel Darrow.
She grew up in Washington and Oregon, graduating high school in Weston. She married her high school sweetheart, Forrest Baker, in 1954 and they had three children, Debra, Teresa and Kevin. Elaine moved to Hermiston in 1960 with her husband and children, where she lived until relocating to Pendleton, eventually moving to Clearwater, Fla. with her second husband, Ladd Wallace. She and Ladd moved back to Hermiston to be near family in the early ‘90s, where she remained until her death.
Elaine’s greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved going to church and Bible study. She worked with daughter Debra at Mailing Made Easy up until the age of 83. She always enjoyed working with and meeting the public. She spent her last three years living at Guardian Angels in Hermiston, where she met many new friends.
Elaine is survived by her three children, Debra (Mike) DeWitt, Teresa (Tim) Curtis and Kevin (Natalie) Baker; seven grandchildren, Brandi (Jason) Burger, Jayme Lundquist, Erika Baker, Justen Baker, Baelie Baker, Cassie Bordelon and Cody Myers; two great grandchildren, Braden and Leilani; numerous brothers- and sisters-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Elaine was preceded in death by her second husband of 25-1/2 years, Ladd Wallace; both of her parents; her three brothers, Ted, Vaughn and Verlin Darrow; an infant great grandson, Dyllon Lundquist; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and her grandparents.
At her request, there will be no service.
