Elsie Faro Passes Away at 91

Elsie V. Boyer Faro died on April 17, 2022 at her home in Nolin, outside of Echo, at the age of 91.

She was born on Sept. 6, 1930 in Wendling to Eaber and Marguerite Boyer.

Elsie spent a lot of her youth in the Baker Valley before moving to Echo, where she met and married Charles Faro on Sept. 13, 1947 at St. Peters Catholic Church in Echo.

She enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening and spending time with her family. Elsie was well known in the area for her canning skills, especially her dill pickles and jams.

She is survived by her son, Louis Faro, Echo; daughter, Janet Logan, Pendleton; brother, Warren Boyer, Pendleton; granddaughter that she raised, Michelle Norton Mowery; as well as grandchildren, Judd, Brian, Monica and Laci; eight great grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Elsie was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Charles W. Faro; son, Charles M. Faro; daughters, Debra K. Faro and Irene Van Den Driessche; her parents; and two sisters, Mary Burke and Jessie McAtee.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2022 at 10 a.m. and Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church in Hermiston.

Burial will follow at the Echo Cemetery.
