On Friday, April 26, Eastern Oregon Telecom (EOT) turned up its first fiber to the home (FTTH) terminal in Boardman and on Tuesday, the first customer in Boardman will have the new technology installed.
EOT will install the technology that offers speeds of 1 GBPS residential customers.
“This is part of our commitment to the city to bring fiber optic services to communities with conduit in place,” said Rob Tooley, operations director for EOT. “
The first area in Boardman to receive the fiber optic services is the Tuscany subdivision in the area of Main and Wilson.
The city of Boardman Oregon will be able to offer Internet speeds rivaling the speeds offered to residential customers in much larger cities such as Portland.
EOT already offers FTTH is select areas in Hermiston, and will soon be bringing it to Umatilla as well.
“EOT’s commitment to bringing the best possible Internet to rural communities is unwavering,” said Tooley. “As Simon Sinek writes about in his book, Start with Why, rural broadband is our ‘why’ and we aren’t going to forget it anytime soon.”
