  1. To the family of United States Marine Corps Sgt. Ethan David Reardon,
Your husband, son, brother and friend, impacted more people than you know. It was a privilege and honor to be a part of escorting Sgt. Reardon partially home, from Ontario to Oakland. I’m incredibly sorry for the loss of his life. His wife was as gracious and composed as one could be at his transport. As I stood watching , next to me, was another marine. She was there escorting her minor child to the airport. However, she stood guard, the entire time, at the window, in the proper stance and respect of her fallen comrade. My adult daughters and their children were also incredibly touched with the ceremony and circumstances surrounding it. The children, so much so, they brought notes to Mrs. Reardon at the front of the plane after we boarded.
I am so glad our Marines honor their fallen as they do. It reminds all of us how precious life is and how blessed we are to live where we do. I thanked the Marine, standing next to me, for her service. I thank you too, Sgt. and Mrs. Reardon for your service. Our gratitude to you and your family for the ultimate sacrifice. You will be remembered in our prayers.

    Most sincerely,

    Rosalyn Esmeyer
