The Home for Hope Coalition is organizing the sixth annual Project Community Connect & Veterans Stand Down event on Wednesday, Oct. 7.
The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hermiston Conference Center. This is the first year that the event will be held in Hermiston.
The goal of the Project Community Connect & Veterans Stand Down is to break down barriers to needed resources by holding a one-day event to rapidly connect veterans and members of the community who are at-risk or are experiencing homelessness with much needed services.
A wide variety of services/resources will be available at the event, including health screenings, dental services, vision exams, federal benefits (such as SNAP, Veterans resources), housing programs, emergency services programs, employment and education programs, crisis intervention, personal care items and haircuts, among several other things.
The event organizers are also in need of volunteers to help visitors navigate the event, serve lunch, help with setup/tear down, hand out give-away items, and more. If you want to volunteer at the event please call Heidi Zeigler at (541) 966-0908 or e-mail Heidi.l.zeigler@state.or.us.
