Blue Mountain Community College has hired Steve Richards as the Lady Timberwolves’ new head softball coach.
Richards is a former BMCC student, and will start his duties immediately in preparation for the season.
Richards has 16 years of coaching experience, including as head coach at Newberg High School. He was honored as the 2013-2014 Pacific Conference Coach of the Year, and has also coordinated a youth softball program in Newberg for children ages 6-18.
“I’m extremely excited to get the opportunity to coach at BMCC,” Richards said. “I have high expectations that the softball program can be as successful as the other women’s programs on campus.”
Richards earned a bachelor’s of science degree from Eastern Oregon University following a year as a student at BMCC. He is a retired fireman with more than 30 years of service. Richards and his wife met in Pendleton and are excited to be returning to Eastern Oregon.
